Details & specs
The Bug-A-Buster 2.0 Blue Laser combines the pump-action 2.0 with an under-barrel aiming laser in a blue finish, for flies that land where a sight alone is hard to use. This laser salt gun pairs the 2.0 pump action with an under-barrel aiming laser.
The laser projects a dot on the target so you can line up a short shot quickly in low light. The salt mechanism stays hand-powered, with no CO2 and no batteries. The laser salt gun costs $47.99, the same as every other model.
Key features of the 2.0 Blue Laser
- Pump action: one pump sets the spring and loads a shot. No CO2 cartridges, and the salt mechanism needs no batteries.
- Proven 2.0 design: the simple, hand-powered model for everyday fly control.
- Runs on table salt: the top-loading hopper takes ordinary dry, fine salt, so there are no special refills to buy.
- Pop-up sight for quick aiming at a fly on a wall, rail or window frame.
- Under-barrel aiming laser: shows where the shot will land; powered by 3×AAA batteries (not included).
- Textured grip for a steady hold while you pump and aim.
- Chemical-free: nothing sprayed near food, children’s toys or pets.
Where it works best
Dim garages, covered patios at dusk, boathouses and sheds, anywhere a fly rests on a dark or shaded surface. A laser salt gun helps you line up shots in shaded garages, sheds and covered patios.
A salt gun works on flies that are resting, not flying. It is best for house flies, horse flies and deer flies. It is not intended for wasps, hornets or yellow jackets, which are more likely to be provoked than stopped. For a heavy infestation, remove the breeding source (bins, compost, pet waste) first and use the salt gun for the stragglers.
How to use it
- Fill the hopper with dry, fine table salt.
- Pump once to set the spring and load a shot.
- Wait for the fly to land, then move in slowly to about 2–3 feet.
- Switch on the laser and place the dot on the fly, or use the pop-up sight, then squeeze the trigger.
- Pump again to be ready for a follow-up shot.

Care and clog prevention
Damp salt is the most common cause of clogs. Keep your salt in a sealed container, empty the hopper if the gun will sit unused, and store it indoors. Remove the batteries before long storage. See our guide to the best salt for a salt gun for tips on which salt to use. Take the batteries out of your laser salt gun before long storage.
Safety
Wear eye protection, never aim at people or animals, and keep the gun away from children. It may look like a toy gun to others, so use it at home or on your own property. Read our salt gun safety guide before first use.

FAQ
Does it need batteries?
The gun itself is spring-powered and needs no batteries. On laser models, the aiming laser runs on 3 AAA batteries (not included).
How close do I need to be?
About 2 to 3 feet. Wait for the fly to land, move in slowly and fire. Too far and the salt slows down; too close and the spread has not opened yet.
Can I use it indoors?
Yes, if you don’t mind sweeping up a little salt. Don’t fire over open food, electronics, plants, glass or fresh paint.
What if it clogs?
Damp salt is the usual cause. Empty the hopper, add a few drops of warm water, dry-fire, then let it dry fully. Full steps in our salt gun guide.
Is it safe for kids?
It is made for adults 18 and over. Children should only use it with an adult present, and everyone nearby should wear eye protection. See the safety guide.
